Giovanni Mantovani

Giovanni Mantovani is a Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Virginia Tech, and a graduate researcher at CVeSS. His research interest focuses on engineering design approaches directed to product development.

Giovanni earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Federal Tech University of Paraná (UTFPR) in Brazil and had years of experience in the heavy Industry as a mechanical engineer designer. His portfolio includes the design of many mature equipment from different industries varying from hydropower to the paper industry. He has extensive know-how in Computer Aided Design and applied Finite Element Analysis, developing research in biomechanical systems, robotics, and also scaled aircraft design focusing on design methodologies.

Beyond his professional and academic background, Mantovani has a passion for cooking and learning cuisine techniques. Also, he enjoys traveling to new countries’ environments and experiencing new cultures.
