Carrie Craig
Carrie Craig is a master’s student studying Mechanical Engineering. She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2024. During her time as an undergraduate student, she was an active member of Baja SAE at Virginia Tech. She also restarted the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) student chapter at Virginia Tech serving as the President for 2 years. As a Graduate Research Assistant at the Center for Vehicle Systems and Safety (CVeSS) at Virginia Tech, she is partnering with Norfolk Southern to design, build, and test a new system for their track geometry trains. Her work on this project will aid Norfolk Southern with track defect detection to help prevent derailments and accidents on their 19,500 miles of railroad in 22 states.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing the trumpet, distance running, and 3d printing. She has been an active member of the Marching Virginians at Virginia Tech for 5 seasons, serving as a trumpet Rank Captain during the 2024-2025 season. In addition to marching band, she also plays her trumpet in the Hokies Pep Band and the Symphony Band.
