Aiden Nguyen
Aiden Nguyen is an Undergraduate Research Volunteer at the Center for Vehicle Systems and Engineering. He is from Roanoke, Virginia and is currently pursuing his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering at Virginia Tech. He started attending Virginia Tech in the Fall of 2022 and plans on graduating in Spring of 2026. Aiden hopes to stay at CVeSS and Virginia Tech to achieve his Master’s degree after completing his Bachelor’s degree. Currently, he is working on the Track Crawler Robot (TCR), a robot designed to travel under and image the underside of trains. This imaging will be used to detect defects of components and foreign objects to improve inspection time and ease. His interests include listening to music and spending time with friends.

Congratulations to Dr. Ahmadian for being named the J. B. Jones Chair of Mechanical Engineering by the Virginia Tech Board of Visitors!
Railway Technologies Laboratory (RTL) recently received a project from the Association of American Railroads to develop a new generation of Doppler Lidar equipment for track stability evaluation. The project starts from July 2020 and is expected to continue for multiple years.
