Vehicle Testing
Recent projects
(1) Ground Trailer Roll Stability Test Evaluation
The project is to perform double-trailer roll stability testing for the evaluation of existing roll stability control (RSC) systems to improve the roll propensity of double-trailers
(2) Design and Development of the Virginia Tech Roller Rig Testing Facility for Wheel-rail Contact Mechanics and Dynamics
The goal of this project is to develop a state-of-the-art testing facility that will allow experimental testing for contact mechanics in a controlled and repeatable manner
(3) Simulation and Testing of Wave-Adaptive Modular Vessels
The primary contributions of this research includes:
- First application of multi-post shaker rig testing to marine vessels
- Coined the term “Quarter-Boat” for simulating the dynamics of one corner of a marine vessel
- Established criteria for evaluating marine testing programs with suspension systems
- Coupling of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) codes for future WAM-V optimization
